Anil Kumble eyeing third straight win in Mumbai Indians

Riding on the back-to-back victories, Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Anil Kumble on Thursday said his side would be hoping to carry on the winning momentum and make it three in a row when they meet Mumbai Indians in an away match on Saturday.

“It is always a nice feeling to score back-to-back wins at home. We have performed pretty well in the last two games. We hope to take this winning habit into the rest of the tournament. Our immediate goal is to win in Mumbai,” said Kumble, who credited his side’s 10-wicket convincing victory over a sorry-looking Rajasthan Royals the Indian Premier League here on Thursday to the all-round performance.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan captain Shane Warne said his team has to keep their morale high despite three consecutive defeats in the third edition of the IPL.

“Our batting was pretty ordinary. Scoring 90 odd runs was not what we had expected. Things are not going in our way but we have to keep trying to get the desired results,” he said.

Warne commended Bangalore bowlers for their impressive show in a good M Chinnaswamy batting wicket.

“It was a good batting wicket. I think Royal Challengers Bangalore bowled really well after putting us in,” he said.

Asked if injuries to key players had anything to do with his side’s performance, Warne said, “All franchises lose some players at one time or another. We can’t attribute our performance to it. But with injuries come opportunities which the youngsters should grab.”
