Confident Royal Challengers face injury-hit Rajasthan Royals

Preview RCB vs RR

With an impeccable win by chasing 203 two days earlier, RCB team will enter Chinnaswamy stadium with high spirits in their mind. Their side has the unforgettable efforts of Jacques Kallis who had not been out in this tournament so far. He will be looking to score as he has a chance to tighten the race for Orange cap. If anything wrong happens there are Rahul Dravid and Mark Boucher, the well-known saviours. The T20specialist Eoin Morgan is yet to show what he is as he got out in the first match cheaply and he didn’t bat in the second match. This man is yet to prove in India what has made him one of the most exciting Twenty20 batsmen going around.

The captain’s legbreaks are not coming out right; the most imposing batsman of the team has broken a finger, the canny wicket-taker has done an ankle; their fastest bowler is fast becoming wider than he is fast; and the talismanic allrounder’s arrival is still two Test matches away. So average was the rest that even a 37-ball hundred from their big hitter proved to be inadequate. This side will definitely aim not to lose three out three and in turn is expected to give a welcoming fight back. All eyes will turn around Yusuf Pathan who could change the course of match in a matter of 15 minutes and Shane Warne whose bowling had been not effective as the batsmen play him with ease this season.

With Adam Voges not yet reaching India, he is expected to play in the match tomorrow. Alternatively Hampshire’s Michael Lumb could replace Smith. Damien Martyn is there too, but unlikely to play; if he does, and does well, it will be a pleasant shock. Replacement for Mascernhas is going to be difficult and it could be Johan Botha or Morne Morkel, whoever finds their form.

In the past… Rajasthan Royals have a 3-1 lead over Royal Challengers and all the matches between the two teams have been one-sided. RCB will look at improving the stats that speak their form against Rajasthan.

People in the Spotlight…

Yusuf Pathan: With key players missing, the team management will definitely look for a special knock from this player.

Eoin Morgan: He didn’t get going in Bangalore’s first match and wasn’t required in the second. India is yet to witness first-hand what has made Morgan one of the most exciting Twenty20 batsmen going around.

Deepika vs Shilpa: With Deepika Padukone cheering RCB at Chinnaswamy stadium and Shilpa Shetty being a co-owner of IPL, this match will even drag the attention of Bollywood fans.

Numbers speak…

Jacques Kallis gets a chance to tighten his grip around the orange cap: he currently has 154 runs from two matches, and next in line is Ravi Bopara with 133.

Swapnil Asnodkar has scored 103 runs in his last 10 innings, since the start of the last IPL. In 2008, he scored 311 in nine innings.
