Chennai Super Kings’ decision to have Flintoff, as first reported, is as much cricketing as commercial.
While the all-rounder lends the much-needed balance to the team in the first phase of the tournament when South African Albie Morkel won’t be around, the fans are bound to flock in to watch the England superstar.
“Fresh faces are what the crowds want to see and we had that in mind,” CSK director, cricket operations, VB Chandrasekhar said.
CSK skipper MS Dhoni’s inputs also had a lot to do with the decision to have Flintoff in the line-up.
“He had specifically told us to go for the all-rounder. We basically went by the captain’s orders,” he added.
