IPL 2013: Delhi Daredevils vs Kings XI Punjab – Live IPL Score
They say momentum is key to success in cricket. As the Delhi Daredevils take on Kings XI Punjab at the Ferozeshah Kotla on Tuesday, both teams will be hoping to ride the wave of success they found themselves in recently.
On Sunday, Delhi, too long without a win, finally got going against Mumbai Indians and the Kings also pulled off a superb victory over Pune Warriors.
Of course, in the course of the tournament, the Kings have fared better than the Devils – they have three wins to their credit in comparison to Delhi’s one, which came about through Virender Sehwag’s unbeaten knock of 95.
The good news for Delhi fans is that the win over Mumbai Indians might mark a turning point. The team, led by Sri Lankan batsman Mahela Jayawardene, is keen to make winning a habit and avoid the wooden spoon. Kings XI, on the other hand, will be hoping for skipper Adam Gilchrist to come good.
To Punjab’s disappointment, Gilly has not been among the runs in the tournament so far, though his fitness behind the stumps is still the talk of the town. He still looks as fit as he ever did. His team will also be encouraged by the fact that riding on South African David Miller and Mandeep Singh, they managed to chase down the tallest total yet this season. Confidence is sky-high in the Kings XI camp.
Delhi, too, will fancy their chances. They notched up a win immediately after Vivian Richards joined the ranks in an advisory role. His presence has been lucky for the team. The West Indies legend spent only a few hours with the team on Saturday. Now, if he could only spend time with each and every player in the squad before the match!
What Kings XI need to be careful about is Delhi’s impressive bowling line-up. They were lucky in the previous match as the Pune bowlers gifted runs to the Miller-Mandeep duo. Against Delhi, it will be different – their attack looks potent even without Morne Morkel.
