Online ticket sales for the second edition of Indian Premier League, scheduled from April 18 to May 24 in eight South African cities, have commenced on Friday.
Tickets for the cash-rich Twenty20 league pitting eight Indian franchise outfits can be bought online at the official online destination for tickets of the 37-day tournament, www.cumputicket.com, a release said.
The IPL is set to be kicked-off in Cape Town with an exciting double-header this weekend in which all eight teams would be seen in action.
The double header on April 18 will see the defending champions Rajasthan Royals taking on the Royal Challengers Bangalore, while the Mumbai Indians will lock horns with the Chennai Super Kings in second match.
On April 19, Deccan Chargers will face actor Shahrukh Khan-owned Kolkata Knight Riders, while in the day’s second game Delhi Daredevils will clash with Kings XI Punjab.
Lalit Modi, chairman and commissioner of IPL, said that the cash-rich league will fulfill the promise of providing the cricket fans in South Africa non-stop action at attractively priced tickets.
“We had promised our fans in the rainbow nation of a non-stop cricket carnival and the attractive ticket pricing, I think, should be a huge impetus for fans to come and see some of the best cricketing talents in the world, their prowess on the field,” he said.
The preliminary phase comprises 56 matches to be played during 34 days at eight venues, including 22 days of action packed double-headers.
The two semi-finals have been scheduled for May 22 and 23 at Pretoria and Johannesburg respectively, with the summit contest on May 24 at Johannesburg.
