Former CEO of Baroda Cricket Association Makrand Waingankar has been appointed as the head of Kolkata Knight Riders’ newly-formed Talent Research Development Wing (TRDW) which will help to spot talents across the country.
“Waingankar will head our talent research development officers who will spot talents from all over the country. He will basically travel through out the country to supply home-grown talents to the team,” CEO of Kolkata Knight Riders Joy Bhattacharya said.
Incidentally, Waingankar, also a cricket columnist, helped devise TRDW, whose find is Team India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Kerala medium-pacer S Sreesanth.
On the lines of the now scrapped TRDW, which was set up under Jagmohan Dalmiya’s helm at BCCI in 2002, the KKR’s concept is to spot the talents from far flung areas of India and then nurture them to keep them ready.
