Kolkata Knight Riders’ CEO and managing director Venky Mysore is expecting next week’s Indian Premier League ( IPL) players auction to be a very exciting affair, as well as a challenging one for all the teams.
“This will be an open auction with almost all the players coming under the hammer. We have been given a salary cap (Rs 60 crore), the squad strength has been brought down to 27, including a maximum of nine overseas players, and we have something called the joker card for the first time,” Mysore said on Thursday, adding that all sorts of equations will come into consideration when the teams sit to buy players.
The auction is scheduled on February 12 and 13 in Bangalore.
KKR completed their two-day trial camp, attended by 20 outstation and 12 local cricketers, on Thursday.
