The Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association has been given the permission by Indian Premier League authority to host two matches of the lucrative Twenty20 tournament, HPCA spokesman Sanjay Sharma said on Saturday.
After getting the IPL Chairman Lalit Modi’s permission, HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala will host two matches of the Chandigarh team Punjab Kings XI, Sharma said.
Sharma said that the process of installing flood lights at Dharamsala Stadium at an estimated cost of Rs six crore is on and expected to be completed before April 15.
Besides, an electronic scoreboard would also be installed at the venue, the spokesman said.
I S Bindra, Special Adviser to the ICC, during a recent inspection of the ground had emphasised the necessity of flood lights and electronic scoreboard for hosting big matches.
The HPCA spokesman also hoped that organising IPL matches would boost chances of host international matches in the days to come.
