As part of their preparations for the third edition of the Indian Premier League, Kings XI Punjab cricketers on Saturday played two Twenty matches with KXIP Red and KXIP Green teams emerging winners.
KXIP Red beat KXIP Blue by eight runs at Sector 16 cricket stadium while KXIP Green got the better of KXIP Yellow by six wickets at DAV Senior Secondary School, sector 8.
The Red team, put into bat, set a 144 run target, riding on a good knock by Arjit Gupta (65).
Blues were going great guns at one stage but skipper Reetinder Sodhi’s costly run out and a maiden last over by Amanpreet Singh changed the script.
In the other match, The Greens won the toss and invited Yellows to bat and did well by restricting them to a modest 113 for 5, with Saumick Chatterjee (39) and Bipul Sharma (34) scoring bulk of the runs.
The Greens then comfortably chased down the target with five balls to spare with R S Dogra (30), Nitin Saint (28 not out) and Karan Goel (24) doing the job.
