New deals in 2010 raise hype on IPL

With the IPL craze among Indians increasing day by day, so are its earnings. IPL had been making new deals with several companies and these are going to lift the standards of IPL along with the hopes on it. Lalit Modi has used his innovation in making deals with Google, ITV, Sigma and VRock mobiles on several factors. Lalit Modi aims for a double strike of hype to IPL and increasing revenues of BCCI with these new deals.

Google… This tactical sign with google has been a turning point for both the sides as it is the first time Google is live-streaming cricket tournaments. Google will have exclusive online rights for IPL content for two years and both Google and IPL will jointly share revenues from sponsorships and advertising on

MRF… The famous tyre brand is spending 16 crores to sponsor blimp-a giant advertising balloon tethered to a pole and housing a camera, planted strategically on the grounds that host IPL 2010 games.

Red Partners… They are going to ensure that all  IPL spectators will get quality food throughout the 45 day carnival. This includes food and beverages for fans in the cricket stands for all IPL matches.

Sigma Ventures… Singapore based Sigma Ventures has  acquired the global mobile rights for IPL exclusively. This deal is for a period of 8 years, including 2017 IPL season. Sigma Ventures has acquired these rights jointly with their technology partner, Chennai based DCI Mobile Studios, a division of Dot Com Infoway Limited (DCI), India.

vRock Mobiles… vRock Mobiles has acquired global rights for SMS,MMS and IVR for a period of 5 years. vRock Mobile will have the exclusive rights to utilize CDMA, GSM, GPRS, MMS, WAP, EDGE, 3G and any other mobile or desktop technology, capable of sending or receiving SMS/MMS alerts, SMS/MMS contest/ activations and live audio commentary / IVR platform.

ITV… IPL had set a deal with UK telecasting giant ITV which ensures that the English people are not going to miss the live action of 45 day festival. The deal is only for this IPL and the value of this deal is not disclosed by either sides.

MAXX Mobile… The Indian Premier League (IPL) and theMAXX Group – India’s leading provider of new-age mobile phones and accessories, signed on as one of the lead sponsors for multiple properties in IPL 2010. MAXX will now act as the DLF IPL’s Strategic Timeout Partner and will also add spice to the final stages of the league as the Official Playoff Partner.

Karbonn Mobiles… Karbonn Mobiles – a company that redefines mobility with its wide range of attractively priced multimedia phones, has signed long term sponsorship deals for a host of IPL properties. As part of these sponsorships Karbonn Mobile will be the league’s ‘Official Partner Mobile Phone’ and the title sponsor of the new and exciting property Karbonn Mobiles “IPL Nights”, which will be aired as the after parties’ hosted by the IPL post the matches on MTV.
