RCB, KXIP locked in battle of redemption

Preview RCB vs KXlP

Both the sides meet each other after a humiliating defeat with KKR and DD respectively. The teams look for a strong comeback and a win in this game can put them back into the league. As the batting of both the teams failed in their first matches, whoever bats first will be looking to make some good runs on the scoreboard.

Royal Challengers Bangalore…. This side has faced a crushing defeat in the historical ground Eden Gardens. Their young Indian batting trio Sreevats Goswami, Manish Pandey, Virat Kohli got out in a unforgivable fashion by trying for biggies. The team lost their opening match because of the collapse of batting order with only Kallis fighting at the other end throughout the innings.

Bowlers like Dale Steyn and Kallis would be looking to redeem themselves after the pasting they received at the hands of the KKR. The duo is far too experienced to get bogged down by a bad day at work. The team, however, has a balanced bowling attack with seamer Praveen Kumar and skipper Anil Kumble in good form.

Kumble is likely to draft in keeper-batsman Mark Boucher in place of Shreevats Goswami to lend more depth to team’s batting.

Kings Xl Punjab…. The team clearly looked rusty in their opening match which they would like to forget in a hurry. Batsmen need to brace themselves up for a much better outing in the middle if they want to win the match. Captain Kumar Sangakkara and senior players like Yuvraj Singh and Mahela Jayawardene will have to anchor the innings to put a decent score on the board. They are far too classy to fail for long, so expect some fireworks from their willow.

The bowlers had done rather well to take the match into the final overs against Delhi Daredevils despite a modest total of 142. Speedster S Sreesanth had bowled his heart out; expect him to come steaming in against the Bangalore outfit. Off-spinner Ramesh Powar needs to get his act together to do justice to both his talent and place in the team.

It’s a match where both the team would be going all out to open their account in the points table.

Players under spotlight…

Eoin Morgan: This English player, who is a new comer to IPL, had been in top form before IPL. His entry to IPL was with a six but got out as he tried for his trademark reverse sweep.

Sreesanth: This Kings Xl Punjab bowler had given a open-heart performance in their opening match and Punjab expect him to fire again at Bangalore.
