Reigning Indian Premier League champions Rajasthan Royals title defence preparation received a jolt after their two-match warm up series against South Africa’s Twenty20 champions Nashua Cape Cobras was reduced to a one-off tie.
The Royals will now play their only practice match against the Cobras on April 11 at Sahara Park Newlands in Cape Town.
The Royals were slated to play their second warm up of the series named ‘Challenge of Champions’ against the Cobras on April 12, but the organisers were forced to cancel the second game as the IPL authorities require the host venues to be clear six days in advance, a media release stated.
Meanwhile, the organisers have announced that they have kept 2,000 free tickets for children below 12 years of age for the match, apart from charging a minimal R40 for adults and R20 for scholars.
The second edition of the cash-rich IPL will be held in South Africa from April 18 to May 24 after the organisers were forced to shift the high-profile Twenty20 tournament as it clashes with the general elections in India.
